Onboard a client

A project can serve more than one business. Each client you onboard gets their own Odoo database and their own address, running on the servers your project already has. They sign in at the address you hand them; running it stays with you.

Onboarding a client, start to finish. The waiting is played fast; the video has no sound.

You need a project that is Ready, with its production environment running. If you do not have one yet, follow Getting Started.

In the portal, open Projects, then your project, then Edit next to its production environment. The Clients list on that page starts with one line: your project’s own Odoo, marked you.

2. Enter the client’s name and a contact email

Section titled “2. Enter the client’s name and a contact email”

Under the list, type the client’s name and a contact email, then press Onboard.

The name decides the address. A client called Baobab on the project ged gets https://baobab.ged.ordomatics.com.

The client appears in the list straight away, and its status moves through Setting up to Ready in about four minutes. That is the platform creating the database and installing the same modules your project runs.

The address is published just after that, by a redeploy of your servers. Allow a few more minutes before you open it.

Open the client’s address and sign in. A new database starts with the login admin and the password admin: change that password before you give the address to anyone.

Each client has its own line in the Clients list:

  • Pause stops serving that client without touching their data. Resume brings them back.
  • Auto-upgrade decides whether their database is upgraded with each release of your project. It is on by default.
  • Offboard removes the client and their database. You confirm by typing your project’s name.

Every client shares your project’s servers, so each one you add uses some of their memory.
